In May 2010 the Pine Street School Foundation awarded a grant to the Physical Education department in order to teach our elementary students the game of Lacrosse. The grant provided funding to purchase Lacrosse sticks and balls in the various sizes needed to teach students in every grade. The students learn the rules and objectives of the game. This curriculum complements the other activities and sports that are being taught in PE. Lacrosse is an extremely popular sport at Spartanburg High School and has just been introduced there in the last couple of years. This grant allows students to be exposed to the sport at a younger age which will hopefully foster a greater interest in the sport.
